The Challenge

The organization was facing a challenge in developing its managers. Every year, they would hire new managers for their different locations, but they noticed that the quality of the managers varied greatly. Some managers were excellent at leading teams, while others struggled to keep their teams on track. This inconsistency was affecting the overall performance of the organization, and they knew they needed to take action.

The Solution

That’s when they decided to implement the Values-Based Leadership Program (VBL) to train their managers. LeadingCulture worked with the organization and customized the VBL 7.5-day leadership program to fit their culture and management development needs. The program developed the managers’ core competencies and provided them with practical tools to coach for performance, build teams, lead change, and manage performance. The program is cohort-driven and takes place over 3 to 4 months.

The Results

Overall, the organization found that adapting the VBL program to fit their leadership and management needs was a success. By running a cohort approach, the managers created a support network and received coaching from their peers. By adopting a consistent program they developed a common language for leadership and leaders now had the tools to lead with impact, build teams, and lead change. They noticed an improvement in the quality of their managers, which translated to better overall performance for the organization. They continue to use the VBL program for their management development.
